A Library Inspired by the Eye

Part of an extensive cultural and art project consisting of four separate buildings, the Tianjin Binhai Library is visited by 20,000 people each month. The five-story building, inspired by the eye, can accommodate 1.2 million books. The library section of the structure, surrounded by a luminous sphere, is located right at the center of the auditorium. The bookshelves in the library are designed to be sat upon when needed, and this versatile shelf system provides visitors with opportunities for reading and socializing.
